Glemorangie were the first distillery to pioneer using different types of casks to give a particular flavour to their whisky. This practice is now very common and called “finishing”. This whisky was finished in ex-sherry barrels and this gives them aromas and flavours of nuts, and dried fruit – flavours that add complexity to the whisky and integrate very well with the style of malt produced at Glenmorangie.
