Highland Park Viking Heart 15 Year Old is an intriguing whisky of contrasts – citrus and vanilla, cooking spices and peat smoke – reflecting life on the island of Orkney where it is produced.
To create 15 Year Old Viking Heart, Gordon Motion, Highland Park‘s Master Whisky Maker, selected predominantly sherry seasoned European oak casks to deliver warm, spicy notes, as well as sherry seasoned American oak casks to provide a stronger balance of sweet vanilla.
Expertly adding just a few refill casks to soften and smooth the flavours, Gordon chose to bottle at 44% ABV. This allows the whisky’s vibrant fruitiness and distinctive heathery peat smoke to shine through. It’s overall one of the smokiest whiskies in the Highland Park range.
The ceramic decanter is inspired by examples of earthenware vessels found at the distillery in Orkney. Whiskymakers historically used these to store the distillery’s whisky and have since revived them.
Enjoy Highland Park Viking Heart 15 Year Old neat or with a splash of water to fully unlock its complex flavour profile. However, for a perfect food pairing, sip with roasted salmon and asparagus for a lively experience.
