Ichiro’s Malt Double Distilleries uniquely blends two iconic Japanese single malt whiskies from Chichibu and the now-closed Hanyu distillery.
Ichiro Akuto is a whisky-making legend of Japan – the man behind the iconic Chichibu distillery, whose whiskies have developed a cult following since the first release in 2011.
This special release from the renowned master distiller combines Japanese oak -matured malt from the Chichibu Distillery with Sherry cask-matured malt from the now-closed Hanyu distillery built by Akuto’s grandfather.
A unique blend of two iconic Japanese single malts, it contains whisky from the Hanyu distillery, which is in finite supply following its closure over 20 years ago, making this blend limited and highly sought-after. This bottling combines Chichibu’s richness and finesse with Hanyu’s spicy and fruity character, creating a whisky with incredible depth and complexity and a long, intense finish.
The expert blending of Ichiro’s Malt Double Distilleries showcases the subtleties of both distilleries. It offers notes of almond and macadamia, white flowers, subtle jasmine, and finishes with stone fruits and warming wood spice.
