Kilkerran Heavily Peated Batch 11 matures in 90% bourbon and 10% sherry casks. These casks blend with Kilkerran’s sweet peat style to create a delectable dram. As a typical Campbeltown whisky, it also carries a distinct maritime influence.

The historic Glengyle Distillery in Campbeltown produces Kilkerran Heavily Peated Batch 11. The Mitchell family originally founded the distillery, and the J&A Mitchell group has owned it since rebuilding and resuming production in 2004.

Glengyle Distillery completes every stage of whisky production on-site. Its sister distillery, Springbank, carries out traditional floor malting. The team bottles each release in Campbeltown’s bottling hall. Sharing both its production team and schedule with Springbank Distillery, Glengyle operates for a limited period of around three months each year, typically from October to December.

Glengyle’s rich history stretches from its founding in 1872 to the present day.

Heavily Peated Kilkerran, a departure from the typically lightly peated single malt, is released twice a year at cask strength, reaching around 45PPM. Distillers bottled this instalment in 2024 at 57.9% ABV, with no added colour and no chill filtering.

Tasting Notes

Nose: In typical Kilkerran style, there is a citrus element on the nose with notes of lemon and key lime pie, along with touches of toasted rye bread and peat smoke.

Palate: There are notes of toasted marshmallows and campfire embers immediately on the palate, with hints of vanilla and custard.

Finish: The smokiness carries through to the finish, along with a mineral note to round off this dram
