KinGlassie Double Matured is a heavily peated single malt whisky from Fife, made with pride at the InchDairnie Distillery. This is one of their first, but highly-anticipated, releases.
Using peat from St Fergus in Aberdeenshire, the creation of KinGlassie allows a chunky smoky flavour to come through, but at the same time working in perfect balance with the rich distillery character. Peatiness is measured in Phenols Parts per Million or ppm and KinGlassie is high on the scale at a punchy 50 ppm.
The spirit was matured over a period of eight years, first in refill American oak casks for five years, and then for three years in Amontillado casks.
On the palate, it boasts a lovely balance of charred bread, dark chocolate and coffee, with a long, smooth finish.
Enjoy KinGlassie Double Matured neat or on the rocks to fully appreciate its complex flavour profile. It also shines in quirky cocktails – use it to add a twist to an Old Fashioned or a Pina Colada.
Producer’s Tasting Notes
Colour: Almond Brown.
Nose: Smoke and tobacco with rich layers of almonds and nuts.
Palate: The nuttiness and velvet wrapped smoke perfectly balances with a lovely long char-filled chewiness.
