Krug Grande Cuvée is a non-vintage wine made by blending wines from only the best years.
Krug, founded in 1843, produces premium champagne, with all wines aiming to reach the same level of distinction. Six generations of the Krug family have perpetuated this dream, enriching the founder’s vision and savoir faire.
Winemakers press the hand-picked Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Pinot Meunier grapes for this wine, then ferment them in oak barrels.
The wine then spends six years on the lees before disgorgement. It is consistently revered as one of the most flavoursome and well-regarded wines from the region. Blending so many different wines from different years lends a fullness of flavours and aromas that would be impossible to express with the wines of a single year. It is a complete orchestra playing together in harmony.
On the nose are aromas of flowers in bloom, ripe, dried and citrus fruits, as well as marzipan and gingerbread. The palate reveals flavours of hazelnut, nougat, barley sugar, jellied and citrus fruits, almonds, brioche, and honey.
Krug Grande Cuvée is special and deservedly famous – we would drink it every day if we could. Pair it with seafood, or enjoy alone as an aperitif.
