La Crema is a family-owned and operated winery focusing exclusively on cool-climate appellations. Monterey is rocky, windswept and unrestrained. These vineyards have a longer growing season due to the cooler climatic conditions.
Winemaker, Craig McAllister, adds his own highly personal touch by combining the best Burgundian wine-making techniques with contemporary Californian style.
When La Crema was founded in 1979, the Russian River Valley had yet to establish itself as one of California’s most important regions for Pinot Noir. Over the years, La Crema has expanded beyond the Russian River Valley to Sonoma Coast, Green Valley, Fort Ross-Seaview, Mendocino, Carneros and Monterey. Not stopping at California the winery ventured to Oregon’s famed Willamette Valley where it now produces a top notch Pinot Noir. The unifying factors with all of these sites are their cool, windy climates and marine-based soils.
Aromas of Cherry, rhubarb, and beets are followed by flavours of red plum, Cranberry and raspberry. The 2016 vintage presents a distinct minerality, juicy acidity, and integrated notes of spice from the oak casks.
