Legent Kentucky Straight Bourbon is a unique collaboration between two icons of whisky-making, created by whisky legends Fred Noe, master distiller of Jim Beam, and Shinji Fukuyo, chief blender of Suntory.
Legent has brought together over 225 years of bourbon-making heritage and nearly 100 years of Japanese whisky artistry. It’s a unique collaboration between two of the world’s most revered whiskey makers.
Fred Noe uses a historic recipe from his family to make Legent, using premium traditional bourbon grains like corn, rye and malted barley. It ages in classic bourbon oak barrels, absorbing char notes and rich, traditional bourbon cues like layers of caramel, oak and vanilla. Fred then finishes the whisky in a combination of wine and sherry casks. He matures the bourbon for at least four years in virgin white oak barrels.
Then, Shinji Fukuyo blends it to create layers of spice, dried fruit, and tart red berries.
On the palate, it starts like a bourbon – rich, warm and oaky. Then, like a Japanese whisky, it features complex layers and a bright, smooth, unexpectedly long finish.
Classic bourbon flavours meet silky dark fruits and muscovado sugar on the palate.
