Montepulciano is a less famous village than Montalcino for the production of fine Tuscan red wines. So much the better since it means that the perfumed and refined expressions of Sangiovese made here are much more affordable than their more renowned counterparts from across the valley floor.
This wine is made from hand-harvested fruit from Lunadoro’s estate. The grapes are fermented in temperature-controlled vessels and aged in the traditional large French oak vats (about 3000 litres each) for 12 months before bottling. It is a sunny wine that shows some leather characteristics from age and is a wonderful accompaniment to grilled meat dishes and mushroom dishes.
