Montagny is one of the best kept secrets in the whole of Burgundy. Compared to other wines in the Cote Chalonnaise, the Montagny appellation is considered to be much richer and with a fuller body than rival appellations. It is a very good value alternative to some of the other expressions of Chardonnay further north in the Cote d’Or.
Vinified for 6-8 weeks in 15% of new French oak barrels with the remainder in stainless steel, the wine is then blended and matured together in oak for a further 14-16 months (15% of the wine is placed into new oak, 85% in old oak).
This wine is wonderfully expressive showing lots of varietal character with fresh minerality alongside vanilla, brioche and almond notes from the oak treatment.
