Moorooduc Estate McIntyre Vineyard Pinot Noir 2020 offers a compelling expression of Mornington Peninsula terroir. Crafted by the McIntyre family, this single-vineyard wine showcases both precision and personality. The 2020 vintage presents exceptional balance, reflecting a cooler growing season and meticulous viticulture.
In the glass, the wine displays a luminous ruby hue with a hint of garnet at the rim. The nose opens with lifted aromas of dark cherry, raspberry and wild strawberry. Subtle notes of rose petal, forest floor and dried herbs add further complexity. A gentle waft of spicy French oak rounds out the bouquet.
On the palate, the wine delivers elegance and vibrancy in equal measure. Juicy red fruit flavours are layered with earthy undertones. Fine, silky tannins give structure without overshadowing the wine’s finesse. A backbone of fresh acidity ensures excellent clarity and persistence through the finish.
The McIntyre Vineyard’s unique combination of volcanic soils and coastal breezes plays a key role. These natural influences imbue the wine with minerality and poise. Handpicked fruit and wild yeast fermentation help preserve its site-specific character. The wine matures in French oak barrels, around 25% new, for 11 months.
This Pinot Noir speaks of thoughtful craftsmanship and deep respect for the land. It is medium-bodied, with a supple texture and remarkable purity. Subtle oak integration allows the fruit to shine, while a savoury edge adds intrigue.
