Paul Mas Reserve Malbec ‘Gardemiel Vineyard’ is a rich, luscious French Malbec with strongly concentrated fruits.

Winemakers source the Paul Mas Reserve Single Vineyard Malbec exclusively from the Gardemiel Vineyard in the Languedoc region of South-West France, owned by Chateau Paul Mas.

‘Gardemiel’, which means ‘place where the honey is kept’, lies 200 kilometres from Cahors, the historic birthplace of the Malbec grape variety. The region’s climate boasts hot summers and very cold winters, thus contributing to the ripeness of the grape.

In this vineyard, in the foothills of the Pyrenees Mountains, the Malbec grape has a unique flavour profile. The Languedoc region is perfectly situated to grow the Malbec varietal. This is because the region experiences over 300 days of sunshine every year. The Malbec grapes spend a longer period on the vine, resulting in a grape that is filled with juicy, bold flavour.

It’s an excellent choice for pairing with grilled meats, pasta, or hearty dishes.

Ageing: 30% of the blend ages in new oak barrels for four months.

Varietal Blend: 90% Malbec 10% Cabernet Franc.

Tasting Notes:

Colour: Deep purple colour in colour.

Nose: Powerful and complex aromas of ripe plum, blackcurrant and mocha combined with spicy notes.

Palate: Medium to full-bodied, this Malbec reveals ripe tannins supported by a good fruit concentration and layers of sweet spices (vanilla).
