Calvados, a French apple brandy traditionally made in Normandy, has a long and proud history, with the oldest maisons dating back over 200 years.
This maison, Père Magloire, is one of the oldest and finest Calvados producers in France, continuing to make their brandy to the recipes developed in 1821 when Père Magloire was founded. Made by distilling apple cider, this spirit is a true reflection of the Pays d’Auge region’s cultural heritage.
In the ageing cycle, the ideal age for a single distillation Calvados to reach maturity is 12 years. This time in the barrel allows the apple spirit to interact with the wood for a spicy, nutty and beautifully rounded spirit.
Enjoy Père Magloire 12 Year Old Calvados neat as either an aperitif or a digestif, with or without ice. It also shines mixed into a cocktail, especially an Apple Brandy Sour.
Producer’s Tasting Notes
Colour: Deep golden-brown hues.
Nose: Aromas of fresh hazelnut, banana, and spice balance beautifully with matured apple notes. Cinnamon and baking spices also appear on the palate.
Palate: A fine, silky palate with a bright and crystalline finish.
