A less prominent brand from the Symington Family Estates but familiar to those in the know – Smith Woodhouse often produces one of the choicer wines of the vintage and 2007 port is no exception. 2007 is a benchmark vintage in the Douro and this exemplifies some of its best qualities: structure, tannin and power.
It displays blackcurrant, graphite, violets, roast coffee and Christmas pudding characteristics. The palate is full and long-lasting – this is a wine that will continue to drink well for 30 years after the vintage, so cellar it carefully.
