The Hakushu distillery is high up in the Kaikomagatake mountains – part of Japan’s Southern Alps.
It was founded after the success of the Yamazaki distillery and produces a fragrant, honeyed spirit, with a subtle hint of smoke. Often overshadowed by its cousin – Yamazaki – unjustly.
Made by blending different styles of Japanese whisky, this spirit is a masterclass in balance and smoothness. Bright young whiskies are combined with older and peated stock for a uniqye flavour.
Suntory Hakushu Distiller’s Reserve pairs well with a variety of dishes when served as a highball.
