The Busker Single Grain Irish Whiskey is a gorgeous single grain whiskey from The Busker range.
The Royal Oak Distillery in Ireland’s Ancient East region produces it. Here, the distillery makes all three classic Irish whiskey styles—Single Grain, Malt, and Pot—under one roof.
The distillery aims to blend tradition with innovation. This release matures in hand-selected bourbon and Marsala wine casks, with the latter sourced from one of the oldest Sicilian wineries, Cantine Florio 1833. The rare combination of these casks allows a unique flavour to develop, blending the sweet richness of Marsala wine with the vanilla and caramel notes of classic bourbon.
It has won a number of prestigious awards, including the Wine Enthusiast Award 2022 and a silver rating at the 2021 World Spirit Competition. We think it’ll be a hit here too alongside the other products in the marsala-aged range.
The resulting whiskey is delicate, pale and straw-hued with rich layers of sweet caramel, vanilla, and oak. A light lemon pepper note dominates with time in the glass. Each sip reveals a subtle hay-like essence with delicately fruity notes. It culminates in a satisfying, lingering sweetness we know and love from grain whiskey. The finish offers a subtle balance between its buttery and fruity notes, with a chewy eventual mouthfeel. The Busker Single Grain Irish Whiskey is particularly enjoyable served neat or on the rocks to fully appreciate its delicate flavour.
Tasting Notes
Nose:Â Sharp green apple, milk chocolate, cinnamon butter, and hints of minerality.
Palate: Banana foam sweets, vanilla cream, coconut, more zingy fruit, and earthy oak. Notes of apple sauce, buttered popcorn and a wine-driven character thanks to the Marsala also emerge gradually.
Finish: Fried banana alongside cooked apples and custard.
