The Glenturret 7-Year-Old Peat Smoke 2023 release is a bold and characterful whisky from Scotland’s oldest working distillery. This limited edition, distilled in 2016 and bottled in 2023, showcases the unique qualities of Glenturret’s peated single malt.

Matured for seven years in American oak casks, this whisky brings together smoky richness with a youthful vibrancy.

There is a wave of soft woodsmoke and peat on the nose. This is balanced by fresh notes of green apple and a touch of citrus.

There is also a hint of vanilla and honey, a result of the cask influence. This softens and complements the peat aromas.

On the palate, the smoke intensifies but remains well-balanced. This is accompanied by flavours of charred oak, dark chocolate, and warming spices like cinnamon and clove.

The fresh, fruity notes from the nose – particularly apple and pear – add a gentle sweetness, providing a lovely contrast to the smoke. The whisky has a rich, oily texture that coats the mouth, allowing the flavours to linger.

The finish is long and satisfying, with the warmth of smouldering embers and a hint of spice. Despite its relatively young age, the Glenturret 7-Year-Old Peat Smoke displays impressive complexity, managing to balance smoky intensity with softer, sweeter flavours.
