Tobermory Hebridean Gin is a fresh, zesty Scottish gin containing hand-selected natural botanicals.
Distilled on the Isle of Mull with Hebridean tea, heather, elderflower and sweet orange peel, this award-winning Hebridean gin is sharp and energetic.
The distillery, founded in 1798, is famed for its two distinct styles of whisky, drawing on the heritage of Mull for its flavour profile. However, they also utilise these techniques in their gin production. Initially made in a 60-litre still named Wee Mary, Tobermory Gin has a larger dedicated gin still in a stillhouse separate from the existing whisky-producing space.
A splash of spirit from the Tobermory whisky stills is added to Grain Neutral Spirit to make the base spirit for this gin.
All their botanicals steep for a minimum of 24 hours in the base spirit.
The result is a fresh and zesty gin. It displays a subtle hint of rich, sweet malt from the whisky stills spirit.
Tasting Notes
Nose: Mixed peels, vanilla blossom and a hint of malty warmth.
Palate: Savoury elements sit up front – oily juniper, cardamom and kitchen herbs. Clean lemon zest and star anise notes cut through the herbaceousness.
Finish: Malty vanilla returns on the finish, then a touch of floral heather.
