Tomatin Legacy whisky is a Highland single malt Scotch with a lemony, peppery palate. It’s matured in both virgin oak and bourbon to provide a delicately spiced entry level to the Tomatin range.
Tomatin Distillery sits in an idyllic Highland location where the naturally soft water of the Alt-na-Frith burn blends with tender Scottish barley. The tall, slim copper stills then create a mellow and fruity spirit.
Following this, gentle maturation in the cool, stable environment found high above sea level lets the subtle character of this distinctive Highland Single Malt Scotch Whisky emerge.
There is no age statement. 80% of this whisky ages for seven to eight years in first-fill bourbon. The remainder finishes for four years in virgin oak from Kentucky. This adds bright, peppery spice notes which contrasts delightfully with the smooth, creamy mouthfeel. It’s bottled at 43% ABV.
This whisky opens with lemon, panatella and pine forest on the nose, then develops cracked pepper and sweet barely, displaying waves of the warming oak. Its finish is light, clean and sweet but still peppered.
