WhistlePig FarmStock Rye Crop No.001 is a delightful rye whiskey from WhistlePig’s limited edition series. It aims to highlight the distillery’s “100% Triple Terroir Vision”.
FarmStock Rye pays tribute to the WhistlePig’s grain-to-glass process. They craft it with their own grain, distil it with water from their well, and age it in local, sustainably sourced Vermont Oak barrels.
They bottle it onsite at the WhistlePig Farm. For their core FarmStock expression, they blend their own whiskey with older Ryes to create a well-balanced, easy-drinking profile.
Rye Crop 001 blends the untamed youth and boldness of their estate whiskey, with the richness of their best five to six-year ryes. They top this off with the splendour of their 12-year whiskey. It also includes some slightly older Canadian rye and then even older American rye.
It displays a nose of cedar spice, with bright fruity qualities and a hint of bread and butter. The palate is peppery, but following the initial hit, layers of sugary pastry appear. Butterscotch and cinnamon then linger at the finish.
Enjoy neat or with a splash of water.
Limited Release: The producers released WhistlePig FarmStock Crop No.001 only in 2017, limited to about 100 barrels due to the size of WhistlePig’s first rye grain harvest.
