Gergenti Frappato proudly utilises organically grown grapes and embodies the unique charm of Sicily.
Gergenti is an organic Italian vineyard set in the beautiful hills of Sicily, creating wines which reflect the region’s terroir and tradition.
Made from the indigenous Frappato grape, it offers a delightful contrast to bolder reds, captivating palates with its vibrant fruit character and refreshing acidity. Winemakers handpick the grapes early in August. After harvest the grapes are left to be macerated with their skins for 6 days.
Malolactic fermentation takes place at controlled temperature in stainless steel tank. The wine subsequently ages in the bottle for another month.
It is ruby red in colour with fresh, fruity aromas of blueberries and red-berries. On the nose, delightful scents of red fruits, with raspberries, strawberries, and cherries take centre stage. Hints of wild flowers like violets and black pepper also emerge.
The wine is fresh and light- to medium-bodied with a lively, energetic mouthfeel. Savour the notes of juicy red fruits and then the lingering minerality on the finish. It also displays a dash of moreish acidity.
Enjoy Gergenti Frappato with light grilled meats and poultry, seafood or tomato-based pasta sauces for a classic Mediterranean pairing.
