Château Les Tourelles Bordeaux Rouge is a delightful Merlot and Cabernet blend with a subtly woody quality.

Purchased in 1938 by Jean Darriet, a sixth-generation winegrower, this Château has always enjoyed a reputation for high quality. Its terroir is steeply sloped with limestone soil and a plateau of clayey gravel. The total surface area of the vineyard is 10 hectares. Half of this produces  Merlot and Cabernet Franc, whilst the other half produces Sauvignon Blanc and Semillon. The vines are on average 35-40 years old and produce grapes of great aromatic finesse.

The harvest for this wine is 100% destemmed. It spends three to four weeks in vats with ten days of alcoholic fermentation, then aged in barrels (30% in new and 70% in first-fill) for 18 to 24 months. Following this, the wine rests in the cellar for one year.

18 months in barrel gives this exceptional claret a real sense of sophistication. It’s still the fruit from the Merlot and Cabernet Franc grapes that dominates, but the added woody notes add a real depth to the palate. This finish, long and complex, is a delightful combination of fruit and spice. The tannins melt smoothly in the mouth.

Enjoy Château Les Tourelles Bordeaux Rouge with lamb, stew or other meaty, saucy dishes.
