209 Gin hails from San Francisco where it is made in a copper pot still from botanicals macerated in corn-based spirit.
The 209th distillery licensed in the U.S., No. 209 was born in Napa Valley in 1882 and quietly legendary ever since. This five-times-distilled spirit balances bright citrus, warm spice, and floral elegance — now crafted under the eye of one of the youngest Master Distillers in the country, Erik Ettner. Once San Francisco’s best-kept secret, No. 209 is now a bartender’s favorite — made for those who sip and those who stir.
The botanical recipe includes lemon as a citrus component and (unusually) bergamot as an ingredient. The cardamom, coriander, and juniper characteristics balance beautifully against one another. Meanwhile, the earthy characteristics of cassia and orris serve to give this spirit weight on the palate. They also add length to the finish. Very well made.
Enjoy 209 Gin in a classic martini, or pour over ice with your favourite tonic and a slice of lemon.
