Astral de Château Puybarbe Côtes de Bourg is a full-bodied, juicy red Bordeaux wine from a sustainable vineyard.
Château Puybarbe lies at the highest elevation of the Côtes de Bourg appellation, overlooking the right bank of the Gironde estuary.
They produce well-balanced wines that express their terroir mixing tradition and modernity. The vineyards are all farm sustainably and have an average age of around 30 years. The 41 hectares comprise Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon.
The 41-hectare vineyard comprises predominantly Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon and is farmed according to sustainable philosophies without pesticides.
Château Puybarbe uses no herbicides or chemical fertilisers and is both HVE (High Environmental Value) and ISO 14001 certified since 2017.
This medium-bodied wine ages for 11 months in French oak casks.
Astral de Château Puybarbe Côtes de Bourg displays opulent ripe cassis and dark berry fruit, hints of spice and wafts of vanilla. It’s a delicious full-bodied wine with abundant fruit and soft acidity but grippy tannins. There’s complexity of aromas and taste that will improve by decanting for a couple of hours. It will also improve in the cellar over the next three to five years.
Pair with a classic roast dinner.
