Boatyard Double Gin is the first release from the Northern Irish Boatyard Distillery, based in County Fermanagh. The distillery takes its name from the disused Boatyard that it’s built on. This makes it particularly unique, as visitors can arrive just as easily by boat as they can by car.
Organically produced wheat spirit is macerated for 18 hours with 8 different botanicals, including Sweet Gale which has been harvested from the family farm. The distillers also use lemon peel which they take from unwaxed lemons on the day that they are to be used for ultimate freshness.
The ‘double’ in Boatyard Double Gin refers to the distillation process and a purist’s approach of placing juniper at both the start and end of the process.
The juniper first rests in wheat spirit in the still along with other organic botanicals. The final spirit then flows through juniper once again in the still’s vapour chamber.
This double contact method, which Dutch genever distillers would term ‘dubbel gebeide genever’, results in a more pronounced juniper flavour.

Tasting Notes
Light, elegant citrus and crisp juniper up front, backed up by balanced floral notes and sweet liquorice. Classically drying, with touches of vanilla developing later on.
