Casali del Barone ‘150+1’ Barbera is a delightful Italian red from a world-renowned region, boasting a palate of both finesse and power.
The queen of black grapes, Nebbiolo, is the protagonist of Casali del Barone, a range of wines that express the tradition and history of the Piedmont region, between Langhe and Monferrato. This Barbera has an equally noble lineage between the famous towns of Alba and Asti.
This DOC wine is very much a ‘lady in waiting’, often overshadowed by its more famous cousin. Here, Barbera is the grape that can truly express frivolity and playfulness whilst maintaining an heir of class and elegance. It is often fun, light and approachable. Winemaking is supervised by oenologist Daniele Ress whose experience is crucial to creating this range of wines.
Here, this wine, made by co-operative winemakers, displays a floral finesse with some mature red fruit nuances and a racy dark chocolate profile. It spent three months in oak barrels to soften its characteristic tannins. It is a full, smooth and round wine with some cheeky spice. Finishing soft and elegantly, this Barbera will leave you wanting more.
