Casali del Barone ‘150+1’ Barbera D’Asti Superiore DOCG is a soft and velvety red wine with notes of red fruit, chocolate and black pepper.

150+1 is reference to the collaboration between head winemaker Daniele Ress and the 150 members of the Vallebelbo cooperative where this superb Barbera D’Asti Superiore hails from.

It utilises a rich blend of Barbera and Nebbiolo.

The grapes used to produce this wine are selected in the vineyard and harvested manually in small crates. The traditional red vinification is then followed by a malolactic fermentation. This softens the wine.

Ageing takes plac in French oak tonneaux,  from the Allier and Vosges regions, with medium and high roasting (about 10-12 months). After bottling, the wine rests for another 2-3 months before distribution.

The Casali del Barone vineyard lies between Langhe and Monferrato, and its wines express the ancient heritage of the Piedmontese territories. Oenologist Daniele Ress, whose experience is crucial to creating this range of wines, supervises the winemaking. The wines are well-balanced and aim to be flag bearers for wines of the area.

Enjoy ‘150+1’ Barbera D’Asti Superiore DOCG with cold meats and mature cheeses, but it’s also perfect with chocolate desserts.

Producer’s Tasting Notes

Ruby red colour with garnet reflections. The nose has hints of red fruit, jam and spices. A soft, velvety wine with pleasant hints of vanilla and chocolate due to ageing in oak wood.

It is a full-bodied, structured, round wine with a dry and persistent flavour. Then, a soft finish of dark chocolate and black pepper.
