Douloufakis ‘Dafnios’ Liatiko is a concentrated Greek red wine made from Liatiko, the most widely planted grape variety in the island region of Crete.

Douloufakis Winery vineyards are situated in hill slopes at an altitude of 350 metres. They cover 10 hectares and are located within the wine region of Dafnes, Crete. Producing wines from both indigenous and international varieties, the third generation of the Douloufakis family now operate the winery. As well as privately owned vineyards, the winemakers source fruit from farmers who cultivate their own vines in the same area.

After vinification in stainless steel, it ages for nearly a year in French oak barrels. The results are grippy but well-integrated tannins on the long, almost savoury finish.

In this wine, the Liatiko grape variety produces a delicate, medium-bodied wine with a ruby colour. It has concentrated aromas of fresh red fruits, herbs and light floral aromas. It also boasts light body, good acidity, soft and delicious tannins and long aftertaste, traits that portrait it as a very elegant wine.

As it ages, it develops a unique bouquet of ripe fruits, leather and spices.

Enjoy Douloufakis ‘Dafnios’ Liatikov with classic Greek dishes like moussaka or grilled lamb.
