Grgich Hills Napa Valley Chardonnay is a a luxurious and elegant wine which utilises premium grapes harvested from the scenic vineyards of Napa Valley.
Grgich Hills Estate is an iconic Napa Valley winery, consistently producing world-class wines. Miljenko “Mike” Grgich first earned world-wide recognition when the Chateau Montelena 1973 Chardonnay that he crafted won the 1976 Judgement of Paris tasting, beating the best of France and then revolutionising the wine world.
Mike then partnered with Austin Hills of the Hills Bros. Coffee family to open their family-owned-and-operated winery on July 4, 1977. In honour of his lifetime of contributions to the wine industry, Mike was inducted into the Vintners Hall of Fame in 2008.
The most notably different aspect of the vinification is that the wine did not undergo malolactic conversion. This is to maintain the natural acids in the wine and enhance the varietal profile.
The wine displays crisp Fuji apple, honeydew melon and a hint of cashew nut in both aroma and flavour. It then finishes with a subtle hint of vanilla and toast.
Grgich Hills Napa Valley Chardonnay is a truly iconic wine that has a very long life ahead of it.
