Holden Manz Visionaire is a subtle, spicy and fruity blended red wine from the heart of South Africa’s wine country.
Holden Manz Wine Estate, known as Franschhoek’s hidden gem, is located in the southernmost corner of the stunningly beautiful Franschhoek Valley.
The Anglo-German Holden-Manz family has owned this 22 hectare estate since 2010. Their focus has always been red grape varieties. As a result, this wine is a stunning demonstration of their style.
Winemakers produce this Visionaire using grapes exclusively from Franschhoek. Their take on a spicy Bordeaux style blend, Visionaire consists of 35% Merlot, 25% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Syrah, 11% Cabernet Franc, 5% Malbec and 4% Petit Verdot.
The individual wines were matured separately for 18 months in 225 litre French oak barrels. Of these, 20% were new with the remainder 2nd and 3rd fill. The blend was later compiled and allowed to continue barrel maturation for a further 6 months.
Holden Manz Visionaire is best enjoyed with a hearty meal to complement this full-bodied wine.
Producer’s Tasting Notes
Nose: Exquisite aromas of spice and fresh plum.
Palate: Dollops of violets, spiced quince and tomato bredie, with whiffs of fynbos and herb garden on a hot sunny afternoon. The tannins are firm yet refined.
Finish: Savoury, layered complexity with lots of finesse.
