Jordan Estate Inspector Péringuey Chenin Blanc is a fresh, fruity Stellenbosch white wine softened and rounded by its subtle aging in French oak.

It’s named after Louis Albert Péringuey, the 19th Century Inspector-General of Vineyards in the Cape, who led the fight against phylloxera and supervised the importation of American rootstocks onto which the various vineyard varieties were grafted.

The Chenin Blanc grapes, from cool south and east facing vineyards in the Jordan winery, were harvested in the early morning then gently pressed. Following this, they experience cold-settling for 2 days. The juice then fermented in 228 litre second and third fill Burgundian-shaped barrels. It matured “sur-lie” in the barrel for 7 months with occasional “barrel rolling” to add richness to the palate.

To accentuate the fresh citrus flavour, winemakers blended 38% tank-fermented Chenin Blanc with the barrel fermented portion.

Enjoy Jordan Estate Inspector Péringuey Chenin Blanc as an aperitif or paired with Thai or pasta dishes.

Producer’s Tasting Notes

French oak adds style and class to this magical grape. Pretty florals on the nose, with delicious citrus, quince, tropical fruits. A contemporary and deliciously mouth-filling experience of white pear, quince, and green pineapple interlaced with a spicy complexity. Finally, a creamy, honeyed, spice driven finish.
