Kilkerran 16 Year Old is a premium aged whisky crafted by the Glengyle Distillery, part of the renowned Springbank family of Scotch distilleries.
Glengyle operates as an independent, family-run distillery in Campbeltown, the historic whisky capital of the world.
The original Glengyle Distillery produced whisky from 1872 to 1925. After lying dormant for 79 years, Mitchell’s Glengyle Ltd reopened the distillery in 2004, restoring Campbeltown’s status as a recognised whisky region.
The team crafts Kilkerran with the same meticulous care as Springbank – they avoid chill-filtering and bottle it at 46%, consistent with the rest of their range. This whisky exemplifies the finest Scotch.
Kilkerran 16 entered Glengyle’s core range in 2020 and now appears annually. Each release matures slightly differently, offering enthusiasts a unique interpretation of the 16 Year Old every year. The balance of oak, sherry influence, and the distillery’s mineral-rich spirit creates a whisky of remarkable depth and elegance.
The 2025 release is a combination of 60% Bourbon Cask 40% Sherry Cask.
Nose: Notes of prunes, marzipan and orange-infused chocolate introduce this dram.
Palate: Vibrant and complex on the palate, there are notes of maraschino cherry syrup, liquorice, dates and star anise. Gentle peat smoke emerges, along with a hint of cinnamon toast.
Finish: Sea salt in the finish, with notes of hazelnuts, mint and morello cherries.
