Marco Abella Òlbia DOQ Priorat is an exotic and refreshing white wine from the Priorat region of Spain.

The Marco family trace their history in the Priorat town of Porrera to the first Catalunyan census of 1497, but the modern winery came into being in the 1990s. Their four separate terraced vineyard plots range in altitude from 200 to 700m on the steep Mediterranean influenced hillsides of the region. The family cultivate the local licorella slate soils biodynamically. The wines are made in their state of the art gravity fed winery, built in 2001 into the hillside.

Òlbia reflects the characteristics and essence of Porrera.

The influence of the vineyard soil and the particular microclimate and elevation (600 metres above sea level) of the plot create a true expression of terroir combined with flavour complexity as well as mature, balanced fruit.

It then ages in French oak barrels for 6 months.

48% Garnatxa Blanca, 48% Viognier, 4% Pedro Ximenes

White grapes are scarce in the Priorat region, and so production of this wine is very limited, with only 800 to 1200 bottles produced each season.

Enjoy Marco Abella Òlbia DOQ Priorat with lobster rice, grilled tuna, smoked salmon, or stewed vegetables.

Producer’s Tasting Notes

Quince, exotic fruits, orange blossom and nuts. Full-bodied with a background of light smoke and minerality. Fresh, dense and complex wine which evokes the warmth of its terroir.
