Marco Zanatta Cannonau di Sardegna is a smooth and floral Italian red produced from local growth of the Grenache grape.
Marco Zanatta inherited his 100 hectare plot from his father Bruno who had tended it for almost forty years. He is the driving force behind the estate today, upholding its values and continuing to produce to terroir-driven wines.
The estate grows the varieties Sardinia is best known, especially Vermentino and Cannonau. Influences from the surrounding sea help to cool the vineyards and prevent grapes from over-heating. They produce this typically aromatic Cannonau with pride.
The Cannonau grape, with its low yield and extreme weather conditions (drought, heat, wind), produces velvety and structured red wines of considerable longevity and high alcohol content. Granite rock underpins the vines, concentrating flavours and brightening acidity.
This particular wine shows fresh strawberry, cherry, and currant fruits over a medium-bodied palate with some length. Hints of spices, as well as delicate rose and violet notes, appear on the finish.
Marco Zanatta Cannonau di Sardegna is a perfect wine to have with pasta or pizza: unpretentious and flavoursome. A good safe option: its approachable style, balanced fruitiness, and smooth tannins make it a perfect choice for any occasion.
