Marco Zanatta Vermentino di Sardegna is a smooth, citrusy Italian wine from the warm climate region of Gallura in the island of Sardinia. The area enjoys a strong reputation for its granite rocks, reflecting heat into the vineyards and thus ensuring full ripening of the grapes.
This independent producer is wholly family owned. Marco Zanatta took over the family estate from his father Bruno. He tends a farm of 100 hectares that specialises in Sardinia’s most famous indigenous grape varieties. Dedication, experience and professionalism are the key values of the Zanatta family who are committed to producing fine wines with a great sense of terroir.
This is a classic Vermentino that shows aromas of lemon citrus, baked apple, and blanched almonds. Jasmine and wildflowers then come to the fore. The palate is medium-bodied and quite crisp. However, a period of lees ageing gives this wine a savoury characteristic on the palate. This also draws out the length of the wine. A jolly good drop on the whole – and a good introduction to this regional Italian wine.
Enjoy Marco Zanatta Vermentino di Sardegna as an aperitif. It also shines when paired with seafood, creamy pasta dishes, or lighter cheeses for a truly delightful experience.
