Formed in 2011, Mezzogiorno is an exciting venture, whose aim is to source high-quality fruit for the creation of wines which embody the typical flavours and characteristics of the most common grapes native to Southern Italy. ‘Mezzogiorno’ translates as ‘midday’ in Italian, but is also the word commonly used by Italians to refer to the southernmost regions of the peninsula and Sicily.
This juicy, dry red presents the unmistakable Nero d’Avola flavours of raspberries, plums, blueberries and prunes, all rounded off with warming spices and pepper. The tannins give a meaty structure, complimented by velvety, fuller body that makes this a delicious accompaniment to grilled meats, game and hard, mature cheeses.
