Moorooduc Estate Pinot Gris on Skins 2024 is a beautifully quirky Australian orange wine, made by fermenting the white grapes on their skins.

After the fermentation on its skins, this wine spent seven months in old French oak, undergoing the same winemaking techniques as Moorooduc’s red wines. This gives this white grape a beautiful orange-pink hue in the glass.

Established in 1982 by Richard and Jill McIntyre, Moorooduc Estate is a small, family run wine business that has developed an enviable reputation for complex and food friendly wines.

Their philosophy in everything is to make the most of top quality ingredients. Intensive, hands-on care in the vineyard, with minimal use of chemicals, produces the best possible fruit for their wines. Wild yeast ferments and minimal intervention winemaking, with a nod to traditional Burgundian techniques.

Enjoy Moorooduc Estate Pinot Gris on Skins 2024 with cheese and charcuterie – it particularly shines with mortadella!

Producer’s Tasting Notes

Pale salmon pink with a lifted nose of ripe strawberries, poached quince, honeysuckle and a touch of salted plums. Firm and fine on the palate with red berry, pink rose petals and rhubarb tang. The wine has some salty savoury notes on the finish with refreshing tannin and acid. Long and fresh. Drink cool but not chilled.
