This Nuits Saint Georges Domaine du Clos Frantin from Maison Albert Bichot is a shining example of a classic Burgundy pinot noir. It’s laden with red and black fruit notes and displays a powerful structure.
Nuits-Saint-Georges, the village that gave its name to the Côte de Nuits wine region, focuses almost entirely on producing red wines. The Nuits-Saint-Georges “village” appellation covers 163.5 hectares in the village of Nuits and 11.8 hectares in Prémeaux-Prissey.
The differences in sunlight exposure and soil types between the vineyards, located both north and south of Nuits-Saint-Georges, result in a wide variety of wines. At Domaine du Clos Frantin, winemakers champion the principle of sustainability and environmentally conscious practices. To preserve the land, they have replaced the use of fertilisers and herbicides with compost and ploughing techniques. This ensures that the Nuits Saint Georges Domaine du Clos Frantin preserves the traditions of its vineyard and maison.
Nose: Scents of red and black fruit that will evolve over time toward notes of forest undergrowth, mushroom and tobacco.
Palate: this fleshy, robust wine is perfectly balanced by its imposing yet elegant structure.
Finish: long and intensely fragrant, evocative of red fruit and spicy notes.
