This white wine is made from two of Georgia’s indigenous grape varieties, Mtsvane (85%) and Rkatsiteli (15%).
Unheard of outside of Georgia, where some might say the birthplace of wine itself hails from (with history for over 8,000 years worth of production!), these grapes together tend to behave similarly to Marsanne and Roussanne providing both body and richness with elegance and freshness.
It is a wine that is both rich and buttery as well as being crisp, fresh and fruity. When young, expect lots of tropical fruit and green apple with a minerally freshness.
As this wine ages and its naturally acidity drops, it develops a ‘rancio’ edge and fattens-out very nicely indeed; definitely an acquired taste!
