By the standards of Port, Quinta do Vesuvio is vast. It was the largest single acquisition by the Symington Family Estates who have ploughed enormous amounts of investment into the brand and now produce one of the most anticipated wines of any vintage. The 2005 shows plenty of violet and spring flower as well as blueberry, blackcurrant, chocolate and coffee. Overall, a delightfully indulgent wine.
