A notable aspect of this rum is its maturation in Marsala wine casks. These casks come from Sicily’s Florio winery. This process adds an Italian influence to the Caribbean rum. It enhances the rum’s complexity and character.
Tasting Notes
Aroma: On the nose, Rump@blic Jamaican Sicilian Legacy offers rich tropical aromas typical of Jamaican rums. You will find scents of ripe banana and molasses. There are also lush fruits like mango and pineapple.
These aromas are balanced by Sicilian citrus notes. Blood orange and lemon zest add a refreshing Mediterranean brightness. A subtle hint of green olive brine and smokiness provides an earthy depth. This depth is a classic characteristic of Jamaican pot-still rums.
Flavour: The taste is rich and layered. It begins with the distinctive ‘funk’ of Jamaican rum. Flavours of overripe banana, dark chocolate, and warm spices are present.
As the taste develops, Sicilian influences emerge. You will notice gentler flavours of wild fennel, anise, and marzipan. These flavours contribute a Mediterranean character.
The texture is creamy and full-bodied. A light saltiness balances the fruity sweetness, adding a savoury touch.
Finish: The finish is long and gently dry. Caramel, coffee, and Sicilian herbs linger on the palate. This leaves a warm, mildly spiced aftertaste.
The ageing process in traditional oak and Sicilian wine casks gives this rum subtle sweetness. It also adds unique tannins that enhance its depth.
