Tequila Enemigo 89 Añejo Cristalino is made at Enemigo’s multi-award-winning distillery using the finest Blue Weber Agave.
The agaves selected are grown for 7-12 years to ensure they meet Enemigo’s quality standards. Volcanic mineral rich soil creates a herbaceous, vegetal profile. All water used in Enemigo’s production process is filtered through the mineral rich soil of the Volcán de Tequila.
This tequila ages traditionally for over a year, resting in custom-made American Oak barrels which infuse and colour the liquid.
What happens next however, is different. They remove the now dark tequila from the barrels under the watchful eye of their Maestro Tequilero.
It is then put through a three phase Carbon-Cellulose filtration system. This process purifies the tequila, creating an extraordinarily smooth, clear liquid which still retains the distinct flavours of a traditional aged Añejo with added hints of coconut and vanilla. Zesty citrus aromas lead to grapefruit and lemon zest on the palate.
Tequileros named Enemigo 89 (eighty-nine) after the 89 iterations created to perfect the now award-winning expression. It won the Double Gold at San Francisco 2019, and continues to go from strength to strength.
