Somontano is a young and dynamic Denominación de Origen, set up in 1985. Taking its name from the foothills of the Pyrenees mountains, Somontano is an area of rolling hills and chalky soil, with cold, harsh winters and hot summers – offering unbeatable growing conditions for vines.
Founded in 1986, Viñas del Vero is the leading producer in the DO Accounting for 40% of production, it’s recognised for making superb wines from indigenous and international varieties.
From the El Enebro estate, 400m above sea level, this demanding variety rewards with an intense, lifted, floral nose and a persistent, aromatic richness on the palate. Silky, spicy flavours marry with perfumed floral notes to produce a wine with unmistakable varietal character.
The wine is bright yellow in colour, with greenish tints.
It displays a broad palette of aromas, with floral and oriental exotic fruit aromas dominant.
On the palate, it is distinctly smooth and full from the outset, with these sensations remaining right through to the finish.
This is persistent wine with good length, definitely something special and hard to forget.
