Yellow Chartreuse is a unique herbal liqueur made by Carthusian monks in the French Alps. First developed in 1838, it follows a closely guarded recipe containing 130 plants, herbs, and flowers. This golden spirit is milder and sweeter than its green counterpart but remains rich in complexity and history.
Distilled in Voiron, France, Yellow Chartreuse carries a distinctive honeyed character with underlying floral and herbal notes. The monks alone oversee the distillation and blending process, maintaining centuries of tradition. Every bottle reflects their skill, patience, and reverence for the original elixir’s formula.
On the nose, Yellow Chartreuse reveals soft aromas of saffron, citrus peel, anise, and thyme. Gentle spice and warm botanicals rise gradually, suggesting chamomile and fennel with a trace of fresh-cut hay. The aroma develops as the spirit warms in the glass, gaining depth and subtlety.
