Celebrating the rich German heritage of the Barossa Valley, the name Eisenstone comes from a blend of the German word for iron – Eisen and the English – Stone.

Within the valley there are a number of recognised sub-regions that vary in climate and soil type and bring out subtle differences in the variety.

Eisenstone creator and winemaker Stephen Cook secures special parcels of grapes from the ‘western ranges’ of the famous Barossa Valley.

They  are renowned for producing fuller bodied, powerful wines with amazing depth of flavour and exceptional ageing ability.

A total of 2,000 bottles were produced and each is individually numbered.

The Vineyard

The grapes were sourced from Becker Vineyard – Mt Charles block in the Koonunga sub-region of the Barossa Valley.

The vines are believed to be between 70 and 80 years old.

The volume produced is limited to the annual yield of this small parcel.

Style

Old vine wines from the Northern Barossa produce elegant yet powerful wines.

They are subtle but have a remarkable length on the palate, and this wine is no exception.

Black forest fruits dominate, with the lifted fruit underpinned by elegant French oak spice.
