Château Les Tourelles Cadillac is a delightfully sweet dessert wine from Entre-deux-Mers, Bordeaux. Made from Sauvignon Blanc and Semillon, this is a citrusy and lightly acidic wine.
Purchased in 1938 by Jean Darriet, a sixth-generation winegrower, this Château has always enjoyed a reputation for high quality. Its terroir is steeply sloped with limestone soil and a plateau of clayey gravel. The total surface area of the vineyard is 10 hectares. Half of this produces Merlot and Cabernet Franc, whilst the other half produces Sauvignon Blanc and Semillon.
Winemakers harvested the grapes for this wine by hand then pressed them whole without crushing. It settles before being barrel-fermented, then is fortified and aged in barrels for approximately 12 months. This gives it a characteristic richness.
This vintage has a rich golden colour. The Bordeaux grape varieties give their full expression, with the nose being intensely citrusy and bright, reminiscent of oranges and lemons. Notes of candied apricots also emerge gradually. The attack displays a straight and pure acidity. This brings freshness to the palate alongside a smooth texture. The finish is then long, aromatic and beautifully intense.
Enjoy Château Les Tourelles Cadillac well chilled with sweet, citrusy desserts like orange and vanilla cheesecake or crème caramel.
