This mixed box showcases two of our favourite wineries in the region: Holden Manz and Lanzerac.
Holden Manz Wine Estate, known as Franschhoek’s hidden gem, is located in the southernmost corner of the stunningly beautiful Franschhoek Valley. The 22-hectare estate has been owned by the Anglo-German Holden-Manz family since 2010. 75kW of solar panels provide electricity and a 40,000 litre roof water collection system supplements the underground water supply, hence the winery’s motto “Tread Lightly”.
Lanzerac Wine Estate is a striking vineyard with a legacy dating back to 1692. Located in the picturesque Jonkershoek Valley, just outside the historic town of Stellenbosch, the estate offers stunning views of majestic mountains, sprawling vineyards, and lush gardens shaded by grand oak trees.
This South Africa Variety Case features:
A delightful wine produced from 35-year-old vines. An emblematic varietal for South Africa. It’s pale lemon yellow with an elegant, perfumed nose; symphonic notes of jasmine, citrus, gooseberries, white peach, candied naartjie peel. Medium bodied with refreshing acidity; full entry features pear, quince, summer melon, lemon and a gentle long elegant finish.
A spicy, exciting blended wine which consists of 35% Merlot, 25% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Syrah, 11% Cabernet Franc, 5% Malbec and 4% Petit Verdot. The palate displays dollops of violets, spiced quince and tomato bredie. It’s then followed by whiffs of fynbos and herb garden on a hot sunny afternoon. The tannins are firm yet refined. The finish is savoury, layered and complex with lots of finesse.
