Ca dei Maghi is a small farm in the hills of Valpolicella making very small quantities of the most exquisite wines.
Although established in the 1950’s it is only since Paolo Creazzi took control in 2011 that this estate went from being ‘good’ to outstanding.
Each year he seeks to express classical Valpolicella at its very best while his natural inclination to experiment and try new things is shown in the small range of IGT wines he also produces.
The grapes, from vineyards located in Monte Sant’Urbano, are harvested by hand in the second week of October and pressed at the end of January. Fermentation takes place in steel tanks, then the wine rests for five years first in big oak barrels and then again in steel tanks until bottling.
It has a ruby red colour with light garnet reflections and the nose is broad and refined. The notes of red fruit steeped in spirits, typical of the denomination, alternate with notes of rhubarb, blond tobacco, cinnamon and touches of cinchona at the finish. On the palate, the wine is enveloping and structured.
