Chablis 1er Cru ‘Les Vaucopins’ Dom Long-Depaquit is a fragrant, classic Chablis with a delightfully complex palate of oak, citrus and minerality.

Les Vaucopins is a very well sited 1er Cru vineyard within the Domaine Long-Depaquit stable of excellent Chablis vineyard sites. It has a southern exposure, steep slopes, and the classic Kimmeridgian clay subsoil in common with its Grand Cru peers. The vineyard is 5.2 hectares (12.8 acres) and is planted with vines an average of 31 years old.

The grapes from this site are hand-harvested. Producers fermented them in a mix of steel tanks (85% of crop) and used oak barrels (15% of the crop). Those wines then age for between 10 and 12 months on fine lees. Following this, the wines are selected for blending and bottling.

This is a forward and expressive style of Chablis that shows some toast character from oak, brioche from lees ageing, and attractive aromas of citrus and fresh quince. Overall, very fine. It is drinking beautifully now but will continue to improve if cellared for the next five to seven years.

Enjoy Chablis 1er Cru ‘Les Vaucopins’ Dom Long-Depaquit with fish and seafood, grilled or with sauce, or with roasted or stewed poultry and white meats.
