Phillip Moraghan and Jenifer Kolkka developed Curly Flat from 1989 after identifying the greenfield site as ideal for cultivating early ripening varieties of pinot noir and chardonnay.

In 2017, Jenifer Kolkka became the sole owner of Curly Flat. Under her leadership, the winery maintains its reputation for high-quality winemaking.

Jenifer and her team craft exceptional wines from their meticulously nurtured site.

The 2019 Estate Pinot Noir comprises seventeen distinct lots, each representing unique aspects, clones, and soils.

There is minimal intervention in the winery in order to enhance site expression.

Indigenous yeasts initiated fermentation, with varying amounts of whole bunch, post-ferment skin contact. Individual oak treatments were tailored to each lot’s characteristics.

These parcels combine to create their most intricate Pinot Noir, characterised by fragrant spices and a lift of red fruit melding seamlessly with darker fruits and savoury complexities.

Vineyard-based tannins intertwine with delicate oak handling, emphasising a mineral clarity that persists through the wine’s extended maturation of 16 months.
